Tesco: Christmas Jumpers


Each year, Christmas creeps up faster. The trees go up in November, the songs hit the airwaves before Advent, and people start rocking their Christmas jumpers well before the first chocolate in the calendar.

So we embraced it. To build awareness and drive engagement for Tesco F&F’s Christmas novelty range in the lead-up to the festive season. We saw an opportunity to tap into this sentimentality and humour, leaning into the idea that some people just want Christmas to start as early as possible, even before the summer holiday season had ended.

We developed the concept: “There is a time and place for Christmas Jumpers”, to explore the extreme lengths fans of the season might go to in order to start the festivities.

The campaign deliverables included:

  • Hero video content: Showcasing a lead character refusing to let go of Christmas, proudly wearing their festive jumper in the sun-soaked streets of Mallorca.

  • A series of GIFs: Designed for social media and digital platforms, these snackable pieces brought the campaign to life in fun, shareable ways and allowed for broader reach and engagement.

The results were amazing, with the social ad being picked up across the national press as well as viewed millions of times. Tesco were delighted with record sales of Christmas jumpers and the dog novelty items sold out within 24 hours.
